A good education is the cornerstone to leading a life with valuable opportunities. Helping children to improve their school performance so that they can get the most out of their education is the primary goal of our Homework Help Program, which operates under a license from the NYS Office of Child and Family Services.
Children in the fourth and fifth grades in the Westbury School District attend the program on Thursday afternoons. Immediately after they arrive, the students engage in physical activity outdoors or indoors, depending on the weather. A healthy snack including fruit is provided before the children break into small groups with adults who assist them with their schoolwork.
Crafts and games are regularly included. Field trips and outside educators are also part of the program.
Homework Help takes place every Thursday afternoon during the school year. This program is an incredible outreach to the community, and we are proud of the progress the students make, and grateful to our dedicated staff, who are all experienced teachers.
