WORSHIPPING GOD – THURSDAYS AT THE LIFE

Of course, our worship service is a primary way in which we WELCOME IN many people, but we also strongly believe that once welcomed in, the body of Christ is BUILT UP when we worship God, together.

/files/Images/worship/worship singers_W.jpg Each time we gather for the Worship service we trust that God builds up His body. We always read from the Scriptures and hear the Word of God proclaimed with a relevant and Christ-centered message. Christ-centered means the message is always an announcement of good news of what God has done for us. We hear God’s forgiveness for our sins, and we are strengthened in our faith as we receive the true presence of Christ in the bread and wine of Holy Communion. Our worship service always reminds us of the promises God makes to us through Jesus Christ and how we receive God’s grace through Baptism and Holy Communion.

A Word About Communion… as a church that is new, people often ask us what we believe about communion and are they allowed to receive communion. First, we celebrate communion as often as we can, because we believe that the very true presence of Christ is in the meal. When Jesus held up the bread and wine, He said, “This is my body given for you…This is my blood shed for you…do this in remembrances of me.” We take His word for it! We celebrate communion and believe Christ is truly present in the meal because that’s what He said.

When we receive communion, we believe that we receive Christ and all he offers to us: forgiveness, life and salvation. This strengthens our faith and BUILDS UP the body of Christ. Receiving communion is not our act, but rather it is God reaching to us and providing us with all that we need to live in this world and the next. If you believe this too, please come to the table and receive. If you are unsure or have questions, no worries. Perhaps you want to get to know us better. Do /files/Images/worship/worship children_W.jpgnot feel any pressure! Come and talk to the Pastors about it, don’t be nervous because they love talking about this stuff!

How old do you have to be to receive?

We like to help teach our children the significance of Holy Communion as they receive. This usually occurs in the 4th grade. We offer different opportunities to meet with the Pastors to instruct children or adults on what we believe about communion.

WORSHIP TEAM

In our short lifespan as THE LIFE CHURCH, we have learned a valuable truth: “Gone are the days when a worship service is planned by a Pastor, a Deacon and an Organist.” It takes over 20 helpful people to organize and carry out each worship service every week! This is not a bad thing; in fact it is a truly wonderful experience when the people of God really come together for worship.

THE MUSIC TEAM   members are singers and instrumentalists (piano, bass, guitars, drums and others) who use their God-given gifts in worship. Their task is to lead the community of God in singing and praising God; they add so much to our worship experience. They are not there to perform while people passively watch or listen, but ra/files/Images/worship/worship band_W.jpgther the music of the service is a community experience.
We seek to draw all people into the music with songs that have a relevant sound and a Christ-centered message. Do you play an instrument? Do you sing? We welcome all levels of musical ability--we mean it! Come join us for rehearsal after most services on Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. All you need to do is, at the end of the service, introduce yourself to any music team person, and say, “Hi, I am interested in helping out the music team.” Then listen as the angels in heaven rejoice and the music team says, “Awesome!”

THE READERS   are many! We believe, teach and preach that the Bible is the very Word of God. At each worship service we have volunteers read the scriptures and read prayers. You need not be a perfect reader or have a radio voice. All we ask is that you have a desire to read God’s word to His people. If you want to be a reader, come up after one of the worship services and ask Pastor Justin Vetrano not IF you are allowed to read, but rather, “WHEN can I read in worship!’

THE USHERS   do more than collect the offering. They also hand out our worship folders and are the first ones to WELCOME IN people when they first arrive at the service. Do you like to say hello and make people feel welcome? Then ask us when you can usher sometime!

THE WORSHIP ASSISTANTS   are a small group of people who coordinate the logistics of our worship service. They work closely with the Pastors and they organize the children for our children’s procession, they assist the children as they carry in candles and incense for the prayers, they choose people to read the prayers each week and they care for the Altar before and after the worship service. Their service makes the worship experience seamless and reverent.
